British entrepreneur and content creator Mark Tilbury has brought a calculator to the argument for buying GTA 6. In a video covered by Insider Gaming and Dexerto, he suggests playing could save up to $5,000. The idea has nothing to do with earning money in Vice City: it is about avoiding spending outside it.

His playful comparison swaps paid nights out for evenings gaming at home. That is an appealing argument for anyone already planning a long stay on the sofa, but it depends on those outings actually being replaced.

Where the $5,000 comes from

According to Insider Gaming, Tilbury uses a $99.99 reference price and assumes an 80-hour campaign. That produces a cost of approximately $1.25 per hour. Adding exploration and other activities brings his assumed playtime to around 200 hours, or roughly $0.50 per hour.

The next step delivers the headline: four hours each evening over 50 evenings equals 200 hours. If every evening replaced an outing costing $100, those outings would have cost $5,000.

Those prices and hours are inputs to the video's comparison. Notebookcheck notes that its playtime figures are estimates; they should not be presented as a measurement of the game performed by Tilbury.

The Brazilian example: R$200 per night out

Radar Leonida recalculated the scenario using 50 evenings and a hypothetical R$200 for each outing. This is a local spending example, not a currency conversion.

50 outings × R$200 = R$10,000.

Replacing all those outings with evenings at home would avoid R$10,000 in outing expenses. Actual savings would be R$10,000 minus the price paid for the game and any additional spending associated with those evenings.

The result depends on real habits. Replacing ten R$200 outings avoids R$2,000 before costs; replacing five avoids R$1,000. Someone who would not have gone out at all does not save R$10,000 merely by purchasing GTA 6.

What needs to be subtracted

Tilbury's headline describes avoided spending before the game purchase. In his American example, $5,000 minus $99.99 equals $4,900.01 when only the game itself is deducted.

In the Brazilian scenario, a console is an additional cost only if this decision causes someone to buy one. Food deliveries, accessories and other purchases can reduce the difference too.
