A friendship that began in GTA Online eventually led to a plane ticket and a photo worth keeping. In 2015, after around a year of playing together, two members of the Vice City Crime Mob crew met in Los Angeles and recreated a picture of their characters.
According to a Rockstar feature about player communities, the person using the name Sabrotage travelled from Maine in the northeastern United States to California to meet King_Duncan_VII, previously known in the game as KiddKash.
From a PS3 crew to a real trip
Sabrotage joined the group during the PlayStation 3 era and found a welcoming community of people who were fun to play with. The relationship with one member grew beyond their sessions and became a close friendship away from the console.

In an account shared with the community, Sabrotage described spending time with the friend in Los Angeles. The distance between them was no longer just something to discuss while playing.
A photo that crossed the screen
The picture brings together two similar moments. At the top, the GTA Online characters stand side by side. Below, the friends repeat the pose on Santa Monica Pier, a real location reminiscent of Los Santos’ Del Perro Pier.
The plaid shirt and framing help connect the images. It looks like a holiday snapshot, with an extra memory for anyone who knows where that friendship began.
Among the many tales of trouble in Los Santos, this one ended with two friends enjoying the same outing outside the game.
