Launching close to GTA 6 sounds like a decision that could keep a publisher awake. But does everyone need to move aside? According to GamesRadar+, Circana analyst Mat Piscatella thinks the answer depends on each project's audience.
In the November 3 interview, he acknowledged Rockstar's huge anticipation but questioned whether games in different genres compete for the same space in the same way.
Attention is not the same as direct competition

Piscatella notes that companies have individual reasons to change dates. Concerns may involve both sales and the difficulty of attracting attention beside a massive release.
Different platforms change the competition
Piscatella points to games whose audiences are concentrated on other platforms. In a Circana survey, around 15% of people planning to buy GTA 6 also expressed interest in the Ocarina of Time remake. The finding suggests some players want both adventures.
The analyst also sees room for GTA 6 to increase interest and spending on games. For other studios, moving a date depends on the game, its platforms and the audience they want to reach.
